Real Estate Agent

Wise Choice Real Estate · Midvale, UT

Being a real estate agent isn’t about selling or buying homes, it’s about educating, advising and counseling people so they can make an educated decision regarding one of the biggest purchases of their life. The market is ever changing, especially now, and the more you know and understand the market, the more likely you are to end up with exactly what you want.

Having a background in engineering and home remodeling has been extremely helpful with both buying and selling. Whether it’s doing a pre-inspection for a buyer before putting in an offer or spending a day helping a seller fix items on their house that could be potential deal-breakers for a buyer. Having knowledge and a greater understanding of the structural and mechanical aspects of a home can be the difference in making thousands more off a house that you’re selling, or saving thousands in repairs on a house that you’re buying.

Why real estate? Helping others has always been at the core of what I do. After working a sales job that left me uninspired and looking for more, I started a non-profit organization that works with teenagers all over the western US. It was an amazing opportunity to make a difference and do something that I could be proud of, something I truly loved. However, after working with nearly 500,000 teenagers, the travel and time away from my own family became too much and it was time for me to step down and let others carry the torch. The transition to real estate was amazing. I’m now able to use my talents to help others and still be home every night with my family. It is truly the best of both worlds!

Here is a little more about me:
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, I have been living in Salt Lake City for more than 17 years. Graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech. I love Utah for all it has to offer, from hiking, to camping, to skiing, to biking, to exploring. Basically, you will find me outside! I've had clients that took over a year to find the right home and clients that took one day. To me, the only thing that matters is that my clients get exactly what they are looking for.

Mike tenaciously helped us through one of the toughest housing markets in the country for a first-time homebuyer. He remained methodical and levelheaded which helped us put our best foot forward without taking unnecessary risks or needlessly throwing money away. Each offer Mike wrote was tailored to our strengths and within our budget constraints to give us every possible advantage. When we lost a bid Mike would ask for feedback from the listing agent and find out what the sellers liked/disliked about the winning offer vs. ours so that we could get creative and write a better offer on the next house. It's disheartening to be a first-time buyer when you're up against cash offers and bigger budgets, but with Mike's guidance we continually got closer to cracking the code of how to compete and look stronger. I really valued Mike’s good humor and approachability. We enjoyed our time with him and felt confident knowing we had a genuinely good person representing us. His friendly attitude and good reputation made a big difference! We ended up getting a house we loved just before it hit the market because of Mike’s light touch and persistent check-ins with a listing agent. I'm not sure if any agent besides Mike could have pulled it off! We did a lot of video walk-throughs with Mike. We quickly learned we could trust him to give it to us straight. He knows Salt Lake City block by block. He leaned on his background in engineering and his own experience updating his home and told us when to walk away vs. when some funky bricks were just the quirks of whoever built the home ~100 years ago. During the house-hunting process we learned so much about what to look for by listening to his observations; he took the time to teach us a lot. If you’re local or long distance Mike is someone you can trust to have their finger on the pulse of the market and have your best interest at heart.

Mike was such a joy to work with! We felt that our home was in good hands throughout the entire process, and he was clear and made sure we understood what was happening at each step. He was extremely responsive and put us first, and I could tell he truly cared about us personally and wanted the best outcome for us. I would recommend Mike to anyone looking to buy/sell in the Salt Lake area!!
