One of the most important qualities you find in a good Realtor is being a good listener. Good listening doesn't just involve hearing what one says. It also involves reading body language, hearing undertones, calculating responses and adding all of those things up to be able to visualize and understand a client's wants and desires in a home. A good realtor will listen, calculate, watch and then ask clarifying questions and listen again. It is those attributes that set me a part as a buyer's agent. In the same way I use some of these same attributes as a listing agent; however, selling a home requires additional skills as well. It requires putting together a marketing plan, determining your target market for the property and then implementing the plans you have chosen. As a native Nashvillian, I am very knowledgeable about the city as well as pocket communities. Different communities attract different buyers which equates to knowledge coupled with applied skill right marketing techniques = right buyer for your home. <br/> <br/>I am a realtor that loves my job. I worked with Maria for about a week while looking to rent a house, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. Maria was very direct and focused solely on the business side of things. While I understand that some clients may appreciate this approach, I personally prefer a bit of small talk and rapport, especially when making a significant decision like renting a home. We scheduled a viewing of a rental property, and during our visit, my husband had some questions about the lease. However, Maria began packing up her belongings and turning off the lights as if our discussion was over. She mentioned that we needed to "think and talk things over" since we seemed unsure. When we requested until the morning to decide, she did agree. That evening, I reached out to confirm our interest in proceeding with the lease, but I didn't hear back from her. I followed up the next day, yet still received no response. As a supposed real estate professional, Maria's lack of communication is concerning. Ignoring clients' inquiries is simply not acceptable. If she felt we weren't a good fit or had chosen other applicants, she could have communicated that clearly. It's been over a week since we last interacted, and I've since learned that the house is no longer available. While this experience was frustrating, I suppose it's a blessing in disguise to avoid working with someone who displayed such unprofessional behavior. I would not recommend Maria for those seeking a more personable and communicative real estate experience.

Character is one of the most important elements of any relationship. When people of good character work together, issues are resolved quickly, everything moves forward smoothly, and affairs reach a happy conclusion. Maria Halland possesses impeccable character. I have done business deals all over the country, and rarely have I met someone as competent and committed as Maria. When I asked Maria about her business, she told me "My name is my brand." She believes in always working for the betterment of her client, as everything she does reflects on her and her business. A number of times during our search and purchase, we discovered Maria had acted to advance our interests, not only independently and without us asking her to do so, but without even trying to take credit for her actions! Imagine having an agent who works tirelessly on your behalf even when she knows no one is watching or ever likely to know! I have dealt with many people who have actively sought to make their contributions public knowledge so they can be rewarded for their efforts. Maria, by contrast, does the right thing because she knows it is the right way to run her business. It isn't a question of recognition or reward; she simply believes that working to her clients benefit is the goal in and of itself. She felt much more like a long term, trusted associate than an agent we had only met weeks ago. Maria was extraordinarily helpful during our house search. She knows the middle TN area VERY well, was able to explain the characteristics of different neighborhoods, identify both appropriate value and potential issues in the houses we looked at, and pointed out important "local" knowledge that was important to our search. Maria fit her time to our schedule, provided us with everything we asked for, and helped us to conduct a thorough and well organized search. She was always prompt and comprehensive in her response to our questions, and did a fantastic job in guiding us while always respecting our preferences. We secured a true dream house and she ensured that the closing process was smooth and seamless. We could not be happier with Maria and recommend her unreservedly.
